The title of the series suggests a certain split of the human psyche into two separate entities – and indeed, the key idea behind this set of works is dualism. It assumes the existence of two opposite elements in the structure of being: two contradictory principles governing the world, two antagonistic forces of good and evil. Dualism proposes a vision of the universe in which there are two contrasting, mutually exclusive choices or realities. This kind of thinking – either/or, bad/good, negative/positive – has a profound influence on our belief systems and actions. While the artworks vary in size and technique, the color palette is deliberately limited to one or two main colors, as well as black and white.
